The first Canadian competition of the 2011 season took place yesterday. The day saw a couple of minor bumps along the way that resulted in the awards ceremony being held about 20 minutes later than planned. But all in all, the day was a success and lots of fun was had by most. We had a number of out of town guests show up, which made the event that much more enjoyable. As always, we sincerely appreciate all the help by competitors and volunteers alike.
In the end, it was Harris Chan, back from an 8 month absence, that took first place in the 3x3x3 event with an average of 10.98 seconds. Finishing second was Eric Limeback with an average of 11.07 seconds. And rounding out the top three was Emily Wang, who won a number of events that day, with an average of 11.22 seconds. Emily also set the National Record for 5x5x5 single at an amazing time of 1:04.63 – only .3 seconds off the NAR.
The next Canadian competition, of course, is March 19th in Vancouver. The next Toronto area competition will be April 16th, at Seneca again. We'll open registration for that shortly. Stay tuned to the website for information about all the upcoming competitions.
