The Toronto Open, Spring 2012 competition took place this past Saturday in Toronto. We had a good turn out, with some amazing times set from many people.
Bill Wang won the event with an average of 9.95 seconds in the final round of the 3x3x3 event. Harris Chan came second with an average of 10.08 and Thompson Clarke came third with an average of 11.17 seconds.
As usual, we'd like to thank all the volunteers, parents, competitors and everyone else that came out to spend the day with us. Look for another competition this summer in Toronto.

About 40 competitors came out over the May long weekend in Rockland, Ontario for the second annual National Capital Region competition.
Thompson Clarke won the event with an average of 11.28 seconds in the final round of the 3x3x3 event. Louis Cormier came second with an average of 11.60 and Julian David rounded out the top three with an average of 12.29 seconds.
A couple of National Averages were set that day. Also of note, Louis set the North American Record for single and average in the 3x3x3 With Feet event. For full results, click here

Over 80 competitors braved poor weather conditions to participate in the Toronto Open, Winter 2012 competition this past weekend. It was the first Toronto area competition since the Canadian Open in August of 2011. The event went off very well in spite of a slow start due to the weather. But in the end, we finished on time, and everyone seemed to have a good time.
The final round of 3x3 was very close and quite exciting. In the end, it was Emily Wang that won the competition with an incredible average of 9.84 seconds. In second place was Eric Limeback with an average of 10.15, and finishing in third was Harris Chan with an average of 10.17.
Thanks again to everyone that came out to participate, help out, watch, and support these events. They are always a lot of fun, and we will look to hold another in the area very soon. Stay tuned to the site for announcements.

The Vancouver Open, Winter 2011 competition took place this past weekend at Science World in Vancouver. As is often the case, Ibrahim Vajgel-Shedid won the competition with an average of 14.44 seconds in the final round. Sittinon Sukhaya finished second with an average of 14.64, and Jacobus Philip Haupt finished in third with a 14.72 second average.
The competition also saw US competitor Kevin Hays show up just long enough to set two world records, one for 6x6x6 single at 1:54.81 and 6x6x6 average at a time of 2:02.13. To see all the results, click here.

The Vancouver Open, Summer 2011 competition took place this past weekend in BC. Justin Jaffray won the event with an average of 11.13 seconds in the final. Kevin Hays came second with an average of 11.51, and Ibrahim Vajgel-Shedid finished third with 12.52.
Three North American Records were set at the event, as well. Kevin Hays for with the 5x5 average at 1:09.75, Kristopher de Asis for the 5x5 single of 1:02.22 (single), and Matthew Yep for the Square-1 average at 14.32.

The third installment of the biennual Canadian Open took place this past weekend in Toronto. The event saw 100+ competitors compete in 16 different events, with a total of $1600 in cash prizes handed out.
Each competitor also received a free gift package that contained a CO Shirt, canadianCUBING messenger bag, Rubik’s backpack, Rubik’s Pen, Rubik’s stress ball, two sets of 3x3x3 stickers, and a 5ML syringe of the new Bubba-Loo lube.
In the end, it was Breandan Vallance claiming top prize with a win in the 3x3x3 speedsolve event with an average of 10.04 seconds. Harris Chan came second with an average of 10.40 seconds, and Eric Limeback captured third with an average of 11.49 seconds. There were a number of National and North American Records set as well.
